Moving and Montana...

God has been doing some moving and shaking in our lives. As of September 23, 2009, Marty was offered a job as a grader in a Lumber mill. Where is the new job you may ask????? MONTANA!!!!, This all happened so fast. First, Marty has been applying for over 15 jobs a day all over the country, and nothing has come out of it. He has had a few interviews, some have even showed him around the place, and talked money and benefits. Sounds like a job to me......well, no, not really. They would say, "oh yeah, well call you tomorrow to let you know your start date". Don't crack open that bottle of champagne yet!!!!! They wouldn't call and this has happened with about three interviews. One, in Bend Oregon, was for the Department of Youth Authority. And Marty had passed all the written tests, now was the Physical one, and he had just PASSED a Physical Test, recently in another county. You would think that, that would be it. NO!!!! they had some wanna be jarheads, telling him his push ups weren't military standards. Well, then of course we took that to the source. Our recent soldier, John, came home on leave and showed us the "standard military push up" and said dad was doing it right!!!! So,Marty decided he didnt want to persue that option, with those type of people. So we left Bend, Oregon somewhat dissapointed, as the State job is what he has wanted all along, to go along with his military lease agent for the State of Oregon military department, DOD. But God, has had other plans.

If you know me well, you will know that I have always loved the outdoors, love my creative silence, being with others, without being with others, reading, dabbling in new and adventurous things, and wanting to live in the forest with a little cabin in the woods, with a stream running through it. Interestingly, that is what both of us have wanted for a long time. During the time that Marty has been looking for a job, 18 mos and counting.....a head hunter got ahold of him and said that a mill in Montana was looking for a grader, and could he get there for an interview. After talking we decided to take the chance to go there and the risk of maybe coming back empty handed. So we loaded up the dogs and off we went. We were gone for about 72 hours, travelling through Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Montana. Beautiful country that we have here especially in the NW . We got to Montana, had something to eat and got bedded down for the night. Next morning, Marty had an 8:00 am interview, which is actually only 7 am for us, Oregonians, as there is a Mountain time change the other side of Idaho. He was gone for about 2 1/2 hours. The guys at the mill really liked Marty (what is not to like???), they showed him around, talked money and benefits, and said they would call him in about 1-2 weeks if they were interested, after putting together a package of employment for him. After 32 hours, we had an offer with benes, including paid benes for me too, full time job, with chance for advancement and really nice folks to work with. We also found a house, actually a little cabin in the woods with river that runs through it, about 25 yards from the cabin. In the woods/wilderness, it is quiet, beautiful and full or wildlife, including deer, cougar, badgers AND bear. It is in a part of Montana that is surrounded by lakes, rivers and streams. Lots to do, all year round, if adventure is part of you.The town is very rural, but hosts many tourists during the summer months, and snowbirds from other areas too. We are soooooo excited, and waiting to see what awaits us under the Big Sky....in Montana.
