This weekend has been so enjoyable and very relaxing. We rested, slept, sat by the fire pit, had a hot dog roast over the fire, had tea by the fire, read, took walks, went to a couple yard sales, went to church too.
I was watching the fire in the pit tonight, I was amazed by the burning embers under the logs, every color of the rainbow was present, as the energy between the layers of pieces of paper and wood exchanged particles of themselves. I could sit and watch it for hours.
Then watching the wild life around us. We live in an extreme forest area. When you are sitting at the fire, you have your back to forest all around you. At anytime, a bear, or deer, or mountain lion could make his presence known. Marty thought he heard a bear, growling fairly close by, but we never saw it. We did have a very curious red breasted Robin, hop along the road in the grass. The dogs are watching wondering what he is? Is he a squirrel? a bird? or what??? They watch him, then in a flash, the chase is on.
Then the dogs and I go to the river. I took off my shoes and waded into the river on the rocks...the dogs followed me in. It was so relaxing and the gentle flow of the water, that was so frozen just a few months ago...was tickling my toes, as I waded into the water. The grassy leaves that were submerged in the water, were like furry feathers tickling my legs as I walked on the pebbles that are scattered on the bottom of the river. The dogs love to play in the water, they especially love to drink the river water , as it flows and rushes under the bridge and around the rocks...
While we were on our little adventure, I also found out something else. It is amazing to think that "sticks" have different tastes to dogs just like certain foods do for us. When you think how cool that is, that our Creator, even made common tree sticks, have flavors to them, just for dogs is truly awesome! I noticed this as they go from stick to stick just to find the "right" one! They sample each as though it were a wine tasting...A nibble, a bite, maybe even chewing on it for a minute or two, then leaving it on the ground for the next dog to partake of.
