Wild and wilder life in the forest...

The past few days, I have gotten to witness something you don't see every day.  A mother deer with her fawn, in the brush, just laying there with her baby, letting it nurse. Then watching the daddy and another male and female deer, come to escort them to the river. Quite an experience..

Then a few days later, I a doe a deer a female deer...actually two...laying in my yard, under the trees, trying to stay somewhat dry. They just stayed there while I was watching them out of my kitchen window, eating grass, chewing like it was "cud".  They eventually left, running, as if the dogs were going to catch up with them.  The dogs always wish they could, but never seems to happen! LOL  Even the cat, the other day was outside, laying on the rocky gravel driveway, and out of the window, I could see her watching a family of deer walking by. Her eyes were the size of golf balls; as she was probably thinking, "wow!! What kind of animal is that?".  She just sat and stared at them. She is kind of unusual that way, I guess I should be glad. I  mean she isn't the kind of cat to bring me a mouse, she is too "girly" for that, very meticulous about her appearance, always cleaning and grooming herself, as if she were to be doing the "red carpet" thing or something..We call her "little Miss Priss". Even so much so, that a couple weeks ago, there was a small bird, that had flown from the tree, to the shed, down to the ground about 5 ft in front of her (Latte, the cat), and there she sat. She didn't budge, move, flinch , or jump, she just sat there staring at the little bird.  THEN when the little bird flew away, Latte, RAN inside the house, she is truly a wimp, but the most beautiful wimp we know...We love her so much..She is so delicate and feminine, while still being every bit a cat...We love all our animals. They each have such a different personality, yet they all get along so nicely, even looking out for one another....The dogs, once actually chased Latte, while she was hiding under the ATV! They located her, chased her, and with a gentle brotherly nudge, Buster got her back in the house safely. They do not let their sister out of their site! She is truly a princess.
