Do we have enough dog food to last until tomorrow?

I was asked this question, while we were out for a ride on the atv yesterday afternoon. I said, yes, as I prefer not to buy or sell on Shabbat. I was praying we did, as I know we were really short on Friday afternoon, but I didn't want to lift a big bag of dog food, killing my back, so I decided to let it slide and see what would happen. Well, Saturday came and went, and we were down to the least amount. Sun-day came and we were talking out around the fire pit while having lunch.  The dogs had had their last nuggets from the old bag and we were needing to get some soon.

I reminded hubby of the story in the Torah (Bible) about the giving of the manna.

Exodus 16: 4 " The Lord said to Moses, Now I am going to cause food to rain down from the sky for all of you. The people must go out every day and gather enough for the day. In this way I can test them to find out if they will follow my instructions. 5) On the sixth day, they are to bring in twice as much as usual and prepare it." (so they would have enough for Shabbat with out "working"by gathering grain and making bread, etc...) 6) So Moses and Aaron said to all the Israelites "This evening you will know that it was the Lord who brought you out of Egypt. "
7) In the morning you will see the dazzling light of the Lord's presence. He has heard your complaints against him, yes, against, him, because we are only carrying out his instructions." 8) Then Moses said "It is the Lord who will give you meat to eat in the evening and as much bread as you want in the morning, because he has heard how you have complained against him. When you complain against us, you are really complaining against the Lord".  ~ 13) In the evening a large flock of Quail flew in, enough to cover the camp, and in the morning there was dew all around the camp.( When the dew evaporated  there was something thin and flaky on the surface of the desert. The Israelites wanted to know what it was(paraphrased) it was MANNA, described as a thin bread like flat cracker that tasted like coriander seed and honey)

As you remembered at the first part of the story, the people were told that they would have enough every day for the family to eat, but on the 6th sixth day, day of preparation, they would receive enough for 2 days, so that they wouldn't have to gather on Shabbat! And of course, just like we do today, sometimes we don't "believe" God , or think , how is that possible that we can be taken care of by someone we can't even see??? But I realized that even for our animals, God made a way to sustain them so we didn't have to buy food for them over Shabbat. (Breaking a couple parts of 1 commandment, #4 To keep HIS Shabbat(Sabbath)  Holy.; to not do any kind of work, nor your manservant, maidservant nor daughter or son, or your animals that abide with you (paraphrased). By buying food that we should have done on Friday morning/afternoon, we desecrate His Sabbath. I know that some don't see it that way, or aren't at that level of observance yet, but that is important to us, so we try to stick with that.  He cares about us so much even so to make our dogs and cat have enough for the sixth day to carry over past the 7th day, Sabbath! Isn't that cool!?

I also mentioned that as we get closer to YHVH, closer to observing His commandments and Torah observance and closer to each other in Him, we get such blessings that seem like not a big deal to those that don't understand, the links between things that happen between us and YHVH, and things that are mentioned in the Torah, as instructions and guidelines for us on how to live and conduct our lives...but even because He knows that our dogs and cat are our family, not just pets...He allowed us to have "manna" for two days that stretched what seemed like barely only one day's worth. Thank God , for His love and caring for us and our pets. Our blessings of pets...
